The start of my reenacting hobby
This past weekend I was in my first Revolutionary War reenactment. I went to Tewksbury, MA on Saturday and Sunday. Though I didn’t camp over the weekend, or get to fire my musket because of not being trained, I did get to march with the First New Hampshire Regiment. On Saturday it was predetermined that the Loyalists would win. On Sunday it was not predetermined and the Colonists won. I did die though!
I was told I was going down, a Loyalist fired, I was reloading my gun like the regiment was ordered too before someone said that I should have fallen. I finally did, like 5 seconds after the guy had shot! The guy hadn’t even been aiming in my direction but, because of the inaccuracies of the black powder muskets, it might not have mattered in those days.
The weather was great and I got a little sun burned. There’s still more equipment to buy, but I’m getting there finally. Enjoy the photos from our camp. Not any from the battle because I was a little busy at the time!
Update: The full album of the event is here

Sounds like you had a good time, especially for a first event! I hope you enjoy the hobby – I’ve been doing this for 14 years, and while it does have its frustrations from time to time, it really does just get more enjoyable over time.
I do have one recommendation though: Lose the facial hair.
