We saw lots of foliage, went to apple festivals, and took a skilift trip to the top of Snow Mountain to watch the foliage from high above southern Vermont. Charlotte gets a job and Lorenzo appears on podcast!

September 17, 2008 – 8:15 pm by Lorenzo

I think it’s safe to post this now so….Charlotte has been hired as a full-time librarian with the Portsmouth Public Library in Portsmouth, NH! Charlotte had been working 60 hours a week with being at Barnes and Noble full time and working part-time at the Durham Public Library. I’m so excited that she’ll be working full-time for a library. Though she’ll have to leave her part-time children’s librarian position, she will still be working at a library. Charlotte also hasn’t given up her Barnes and Noble discount that easily: she says she’ll stay on but work on a part-time basis instead. Congratulations Charlotte!

On a silly note, I appeared on a radio show…well, sort of. I phoned in a voice message that appeared on Tuesday’s episode of CNET’s Buzz Out Loud. The Internet podcast is one I listen to daily on my Zune mp3 player and it is a hilarious take on technology news (computers, Internet, cell phones, etc.). To listen to the episode, episode number 810, visit the show’s link below. My call shows up 25 minutes and 31 seconds into the show and is related to an earlier episode of the show. Best Buy had announced that they were buying Napster and yet I wanted to remind the show that Best Buy already was partnering with Rhapsody for the Best Buy Music Store. This would mean they would have 2 different music stores online. Weird. It’s great to make it on a show that I’ve been a fan of for years!

What we’ve been up to

September 14, 2008 – 2:25 pm by admin

Well, since the last time a personal update was posted on the website a few things have happened. Here’s a brief look at what we’ve been up to:

  • Charlotte got a new 2007 Honda CR-V in December.
  • We have now been in the house for 17 months and it’s been great.
  • I’m working just 1 job now (still teaching at the Lowell Community Charter Public School but in the 5th grade for my second year now) but am not at Best Buy anymore. Charlotte is now down to just 2 jobs (Barnes and Noble and the Durham Public Library)
  • Charlotte became an American citizen.

I also updated my profile pages on Facebook, Twitter, Zune Social, YouTube, and yes…MySpace for those of you who like that site. The profile page links are at the bottom of the right sidebar in the section called “Related Sites.”

Goodbye Don Haskins

September 8, 2008 – 3:20 pm by admin

Don Haskins, former coach of the UTEP Miners men’s basketball team has passed away. Haskins’ team won the NCAA finals in 1966 (the college was called Texas Western then). Haskins’ life was portrayed in the 1996 movie Glory Road, which was based on his biography. The team was the first NCAA team to have 5 black starters on the court.

We have been back at school since the 19th already.  I wanted to say hello to all my new students and parents and let you know that you can view the homework assignments by clicking on “The Teacher Years” at the top and then “Homework Assignments” on the page that follows.

Welcome to SlyTheFox.com version 3.0!

Well, I’ve updated the site and now the site will be so much easier for me to blog about what is going on in my life, Charlotte’s life, and what our friends and family are up to. It will also be easier for friends to connect too because of the sidebar panel on the homepage. I’ll catch everyone up soon on what has happened in the year since my last post and hopefully this new, easy to blog format will make updates more frequent. Check out the site and let me know what you think by clicking the contact link at the bottom of the page. Thanks for visiting!
