Need help to develop educational opportunities for the youth and citizens in South Central el Paso, we are able to star a mini computer through the CRC funding for human services. The lab will consist of 5 computers with Internet service and at least 2 printers. Mini-lab will be open M-F 4-8pm and Saturday 12-4pm. Mentors are also needed to assist kids on computer programs and skills. Project: Request assistance for mini computer lab.

The program offers tutoring to high school students in the areas of Math & English from Monday through Thursday between 6-8p.m. The volunteers will be responsible for one-to-one tutoring and program activities. It is important for the volunteers to be computer literate. Also office volunteers will be needed from 8a.m.-8p.m. M-F

Community members work with juveniles who have committed minor offenses to help get them back on the right track. This includes counseling, community service, restitution, essay writing, and tutoring. Students also have the opportunity to work with the Back on track Program.

La Mariposa Hospice at Providence Memorial Hospital provides services to terminally patients and their families. To become a La Mariposa Hospice Volunteer you must complete the application process. interview, and 22 hours of training provided by La Mariposa Hospice. Once you have completed the training you have a choice of volunteering in the office (which requires 8hrs of training) or with patients and families. A minimum of 50 hours must be completed.

The volunteer for the Proyecto de Salud de La Mujer Obrera will primarily be doing clerical work associated with our preventive health programs. The work will include the scheduling of appointments. Volunteers will be interacting with displaced factory workers who are primarily Spanish-speaking, as is most of our staff. Being bilingual-Spanish and English will help.

La Posada is a transitional shelter for women and their children. They assist families with the difficulty of transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency. Volunteers are asked to do the following activities: administrative duties (answer phones, give information to prospective clients), some daycare, and helping the clients with paperwork and answering questions they may have. Only 6 volunteers are needed at various times.

LARAP is a non-profit organization that helps refugees obtain political asylum in the United States. Volunteers for this agency will have an opportunity to see the workings of a non-profit organization while writing grants for them. Volunteers may also be involved in family reunification for children and public education and advocacy on behalf or refugees and immigrants. Volunteers with experience in computer programming are also needed.

This agency provides adoption services, foster care placements, counseling for adoption and foster care parents. and a camping site for children. Volunteers may work at any of the two campuses, at the on site school, or with the recreational center. Volunteers will be needed to help supervise children in after school activities. tutoring, monitoring and some office work. Only 10-12 volunteers will be taken.
