  1. Life Center Christian School.

    Volunteers are needed to tutor students three times a week, assistant in starting a music program and teach computer skills.

  2. Life Management Center.

    Life Management Center provides comprehensive services for the mentally disabled. Volunteers will have a variety of opportunities to be supportive to people suffering chronic mental disabilities including mentoring, home visits, and recreation.

  3. Loretto Academy Elementary School.

    Students are needed in the elementary school to act as tutors.

  4. Lutheran Social Services-Coaching for Success

    Coaching for Success is a mentoring program for welfare-dependent mothers who are making the challenging transition into the workforce (by matching these women with female volunteers who can offer support and advice). We are looking for adult women, ages 23 and older, who can commit to spend 8-10 hours with Coaching for Success for 8 months. Volunteer mentors will attend orientation and training sessions and, after being matched with a participant, will make weekly telephone calls to their partner. Volunteers are also asked to attend monthly seminars or programs activities and periodically meet with their partner in person and may choose to attend volunteer discussion groups once a month. Program and administrative assistants are also needed to coordinate programs and help facilitate office work.

  5. Lutheran Social Services-Adult Day Care

    Lutheran Social Services has been providing Adult Day Care in El Paso for 25 years. Care is provided for adults, 18 years and older, who require minimal healthcare needs, but who are not able to remain alone at home during the day. We are looking for volunteers to help in the following areas: Arts and Crafts projects, Socialization, Escorting participants on outing, painting and other light building repairs and improvements, and washing/detailing the transportation vehicles.

  6. Occupational Opportunity Center.

    This is El Paso’s new day center for the homeless. It provides refreshments, counseling, job placement. day care, showers, and other services. Volunteers are needed in all areas.

  7. Paso del Norte Clean Cities Coalition.

    Volunteers are needed to work in air quality outreach. This service includes web design, brochures, presentations, and research. We are seeking students within the disciplines of communications, health related fields, environmental studies, computer science, and education. We are only taking 5-7 volunteers. Bilingual students are preferred, but not a requirement

  1. Providence Memorial Hospital.

    Volunteers do not provide medical care but will have the opportunity to interact with patients while visiting. and transporting them around the hospital. (Basic requirements: 50 hours).

  2. Romona Elementary School.

    Volunteers interested in donating time to our K-6 elementary school library would handle a variety of tasks such as: checking out books, working with classes, and filing catalog cards. Volunteer hours are between 8am-3:30pm and no hours are flexible. Only 8 volunteers will be taken.

  3. Special Olympics.

    Volunteers could assist in several area, depending on their strengths, talents, and scheduling preferences. Possibilities include assisting in computer work, fundraising campaigns, working for special events, working as coaches or assistant coaches. Level of interaction with athletes depends on personal preference.

  4. STARS (Sexual trauma & Assault Response Services).

    The Rape Crisis Hotline provides phone counseling for victims of sexual assault. Rape Crisis Outreach volunteers are on call to provide support for a victim of sexual assault at the hospital. (This is a one-year commitment that includes 40 hours of training, hospital visitation, and phone counseling). Clerical work for volunteers is also requested. Only 3 volunteers will be accepted.

  5. St. Anne’s Center.

    St. Anne’s Center is a comprehensive family agency offering services to people of all ages. Volunteers are needed for work with children, visiting the homes of senior citizens, food distribution, fund raising, maintenance, and other areas. St. Anne’s also needs instructors for its GED program.

  6. Texas Youth Commission (El Paso Parole Office).

    Volunteers work directly with delinquent youth at the Schaffer House, which serves 24 delinquent youths, or doing administrative work at the parole office. At Schaffer House volunteers serve as tutors and mentors, lead recreation, conduct office interviews on clientele, do home/detention/school/employment visits, participate in disciplinary hearing and take the residents on field trips. (Apply early-background checks are required, 60 hours are required.)

  7. Therapeutic Horsemanship of El Paso.

    Volunteers provide recreation and therapy for physically and mentally disabled children by teaching them to ride horses. No experience with horses is necessary. Tuesday-Saturday placement. This agency needs at least 60 volunteers
