  1. United Blood Services.

    United Blood Services El Paso’s blood bank is in need of some administrative volunteer support. Responsibilities would include distribution of pamphlets, posters, help with blood drives, and preparation of mailings.

  2. University Presbyterian Church.

    Volunteers will be needed to assist in tutoring and mentoring school age children in some of the basic subjects. The after school program is held daily M-F.

  3. UTEP Dinner Theatre.

    The UTEP Dinner Theatre is a non-profit theatre, which utilizes the talents of the community as well as students from the University or Texas at El Paso. The UDT produces musical productions as well as serves as producers for the UTEP Ballet’s productions. As a volunteer, one will work in collaboration with the professional staff assisting in the construction of the set or costume department or assist with House Management during the production itself. As all volunteer work has it’s rewards, it is certainly a gratifying experience to look back at one’s work and see the results of it during the production.

  4. UTEP–Outreach Program/ Gear Up.

    We are offering a special opportunity for volunteers to become a mentor for students at Guillen Middle School. Volunteer will spend time each week with a particular student tutoring and mentoring them Students must receive a background check and attend training for 4 hours on Sat. February 3, 2001 at UTEP training will count toward completion. We are only accepting 20 students per semester.

  5. UTEP–University Day-Care Center

    Volunteers would assist caregivers in overall supervision of the children and participate in reading to the children, singing, games, initiating activities, play etc. Caregivers will not change diapers, discipline, handle children directing or report to parents about their children. Caregivers are in an aid capacity. Hours are flexible from 7:15am-9:00pm (exception is nap time 12:30-2:30). The children range in age from 6 mos. to 12 yrs. A criminal background check and TB test (showing negative less than a year old) are required.

  6. Vegetarian Society of El Paso.

    Students are needed to help with general office work such as computer input, filing, organizing, mailing, and telephone reception. We only want 2-3 volunteers.

  7. Victim Assistance Program (VAP).

    This program is a prosecutor based victim services unit that provides victims of crime with information on their rights, the state compensation fund program, referrals to appropriate community agencies, and facilitates an understanding of the criminal justice system. Program staff reviews criminal offense reports, identifies the victims and contacts them by telephone.

  8. Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of El Paso.

    Volunteers provide caregiver relief, deliver supplies, run errands, and provide emotional support and socialization to terminally ill patients and their families. You can choose to work with patients and families or volunteer in a hundred other ways throughout the county. Time commitment is flexible, typically 2 hours per week (determined between volunteer and patient). Volunteers must be abile to communicate effectively, possess emotional maturity, and be sensitive to and understand the needs of terminally ill patients and their families.
    Individuality is encouraged if your interests are in friendly visits, office support or sharing your special talents. We want you to join the team of professionals at VNA.

    Wiggs Middle School would like to work with UTEP student volunteers to help their sixth, seventh and eighth grade students with TAKS Preparation, tutors are needed in the areas of Math/Science and Writing.

  2. YMCA of Greater El Paso.
    Most of the work at the YMCA’s is clerical.

    Volunteers would perform any number of clerical tasks such as accounting, computer entry, filing, separating paper work, or helping out with the front desk.

    Westside Branch:

  3. Ysleta Community Outreach.

    Volunteer are needed for the following programs: facilitate ESOL, math, reading and writing classes, community donation efforts, facilitate reading clubs for kids, learning center for students and employment services. This agency requires a minimum of 30 hrs.

  4. YWCA El Paso Del Norte Region.

    Lower Valley Branch. Volunteers are needed to help with various programs. Duties may include working on the Teen Awareness Programs, credit counseling, desk attendant, working in the gym, or clerical work. Only 8-10 volunteers will be taken.

  5. YWCA’s Mary Ann Dodson Camp.

    Volunteers needed to assist in the Science Discovery Camp, Teach teamwork, self-esteem, responsibility, assisting in grant-writing, community donations and direct care of elementary children. This volunteer is requesting only 10 volunteers.
